Hints & Tips
Mucking out and keeping the hen house clean is not generally given as being the most compelling reason for keeping poultry. The absolute ease of keeping our arks clean is very often given as being one of the most compelling reasons for having chosen one.
Maintenance procedure is as follows:
Lift out the nest box insert, the individual perches and their support beams through the end door of the house, slide out the droppings board and clean as necessary, (if an opened up feed bag of something similar has been placed underneath the perches, the dropppings board should be relatively clean), then brush away any dust and chippings from the ventilators and frame.
Replace the droppings board to locate the lock stop which will prevent it from being pushed up from underneath. If the board has needed a disinfectant wash, it can be replaced dry side up. The perch support beams are then sat on the gable frames, the spare set or perches placed into the slots in the beams and the nest box inserted between the beams to lock everthing in place. A few handfuls of wood chippings under the perches and a small amount of straw or wood shavings in the nest box will complete the task.
A considerable amount of care and thoughtfulness has been invested into the design and styling of our arks, and once you have puchased one. We are on call 24/7 to give you any help and advise you require, having over 50 years experience in keeping poultry, and having designed commercial free range units that house up to 10,000 free range hens, that are used throughout the UK today.
We are well aware that bidding or placing an order on the strength of only pictures and "sales hype" does not always result in happiness and that "guarantees" can sometimes turn ambiguity into an art form. Our customers have always been our best salesmen. They use words like "Absolutely splendid", "Brilliant", "Wonderful" and Please can i order another one, and as one young visitor was overheard to say, "They are Cracking good Arks".
All our houses are supplied ready assembled for immediate use.
Strict quality control is applied throughout our workshops from the selection of the materials to the final assembly and finish. The standard of construction and finish is second to none.
